Alice White is an emerging artist, born and bred in London. Taking an investigative approach to her practice, Alice explores the research processes and materials which go into producing the best innovations in current conservation science. Her aim is to provide an artistic perspective into the traditionally inaccessible field of marine conservation, with particular emphasis on rare species which are indigenous to UK waters.
During her year as the Selected Artist at ZSL London Zoo, her project ‘A New Wave: Art and Conservation Science’ was developed through first-hand experience. Her interviews with the zookeepers and conservation scientists on site provide a unique insight behind the scenes with the aquarium team, highlighting areas such as the seahorse breeding programme, eel population monitoring processes, photomicrography , and cetacean pathology.
Her solo exhibition at ZSL London Zoo Aquarium in Spring 2015 was the first painting exhibition to launch on zoo grounds. She has since exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists in their Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries.
